Specialty Gas Lab Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:
Fill and certify industrial, medical and specialty gases per CGA, FDA and industry standards. Ability to learn gas analysis equipment. Assist customers and drivers with cylinder orders and cylinder loading as needed. Perform duties assigned to cylinder pumping, sorting, and filling.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
1. Assist customers and sales personnel with specialty questions and cylinder orders.
2. Complete in-house training program acknowledging cylinder colors, sizes and types.
3. Know and use barcode scanners for cylinder tracking and product inventory and production.
4. Maintain proper cylinder inventory of specialty and medical products.
5. Ensure all Spec gas required cylinders for all customers are bar coded properly.
6. Complete in-house forklift training and certification program and operate powered equipment in a safe professional manner.
7. Load and unload trucks with hard goods and cylinders.
8. Complete training in order to operate and fill CO2 cylinders and liquids.
9. Know and perform liquid cylinder filling operations for portable cylinders (oxy-nit-argon).
10. Know and perform cylinder pre-filling inspections and filling requirements per DOT, FDA, and other applicable industry regulations.
11. Clean-up functions as required including, but not limited to, sweeping, washing, painting, trash removal and pick-up.

REQUIREMENTS :
• High school graduate or equivalent experience.
• Technical or Secondary degree preferred.
• Great attention to detail. Significant levels of patience.
• Ability to operate and use all necessary equipment.
• Ability to visually distinguish colors of various cylinders.
• Ability to communicate with all staff and customers.
• Ability to lift, roll and move cylinders up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to read, count and write to accurately complete paperwork.
• Ability to work in diverse and sometimes unpleasant weather conditions.
• Ability to work during summer months in a non air conditioned environment.
• Ability to reach, stoop, twist, kneel, bend and bend on a consistent basis.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
• Able and Available to work overtime due to changes in work load (customer orders)
