Hardgoods Product Manager

The Hardgoods Manager provides oversight of the comprehensive purchasing and inventory management of CK Supply. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining strategic procurement plans, managing inventory control, providing recommendations, and implementing process improvement programs to improve workflow and productivity. This supervisory role is responsible for leading the warehouse, shipping and receiving, and procurement employees (approximately 3 to 5 direct reports).

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations Responsibilities:

• Ensure purchasing and inventory management is a strategic advantage to CK
• Manage inventory control, shipping, receiving, and warehouse functions including completion of cycle counting procedures and reconciliation while resolving any discrepancies on stock status issues
• Develop, implement and monitor product inventories to ensure maximum efficiency for achieving on-time deliveries
• Provide recommendations and implement process improvement programs, cost reduction initiatives, and procedures to improve workflow
• Maintain 5S principles within all areas of the department
• Develop and implement effective vendor evaluation process
• Ensure necessary compliance, training, monitoring and record keeping required by applicable safety standards for the department
• Manage vendor relationships and assist in negotiating pricing agreements while working closely with the Sales Management team to achieve the proper balance of inventory levels to service the customer needs while securing best pricing and maximize rebates
• Oversee and coordinate Product Committee Meetings

Management Responsibilities:

• Ensure proper staffing of department through scheduling and, as needed, hiring new employees with the assistance of the Human Resources team
• Conduct weekly Level 10 department meetings to provide consistent communication with the team that allows for opinions, suggestions, and cohesive teamwork
• Create and monitor department budget as well as an annual work plan that includes department goals and objectives
• Ensure department weekly scorecard metrics are pertinent and up to date.
• Coordinate and implement annual training plans for departmental employees
• Provide employee coaching, counseling, and job performance evaluation
• Conduct timely performance reviews for all departmental employees
• Follow and enforce all safety guidelines and requirements including proper personal protective equipment for employees and visitors
• Adhere to the CK Core Values through behavior and words
• Other duties, as assigned, within the job classification and business

QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in management or similar field or High School Diploma with relevant work experience required
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible warehouse and purchasing experience preferably in the distribution industry
• Must be able to work independently and problem solve issues as they arise
• Ability to be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people in a professional manner
• Utilize computer system productively including Microsoft Office products and enterprise software
• Prior supervisory experience preferred
• Flexibility in working outside of regularly scheduled working hours/days to ensure departmental needs are met as needed
• Versatility to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Skilled at prioritizing tasks and delegating as necessary
• Prefer prior specific industrial and hardgoods or inventory management experience
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally while leading at all levels of the organization
• Must possess excellent communication skills, especially in the development of action plans and to ensure accountability and follow-through
• Capable of safely using and operating all equipment in accordance with the standard operating procedures
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally
